# Project roles

> Project roles control what members can do within a Project. Each member is assigned one of four fixed roles.

## Overview

Project roles are fixed and cannot be customized.

Each Project member is assigned one of four roles:

Project roles apply only inside the Project.

Each Project role has its own permissions. For the full permission breakdown, see [Permissions matrix](/reference/permissions#project-roles).

## The four Project roles

| Project role        | Description                                                                                                                                                                          |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Project Manager** | Can add Project members and assign any Project role, including Project Manager and Team Leader. They can upload hotspot photos and attached photos and manage the Project's members. |
| **Team Leader**     | Can add, edit, and remove Uploaders and Viewers. They can upload attached photos but cannot upload hotspot photos.                                                                   |
| **Uploader**        | Can upload attached photos, comment on photos, and view floors and other members' photos in the Project.                                                                             |
| **Viewer**          | Can comment on photos and view floors and other members' photos in the Project. They cannot upload photos.                                                                           |

<Note>Anyone with access to a Project can see all members of that Project and all photos, hotspots, and floors that have been added to it.</Note>

## Access through Global and Property roles

A Project role is not the only way someone can access a Project.

A member whose Global or Property role includes **Manage projects** can manage every Project on the relevant Property without being added as a Project member. They can manage Project members and roles, upload Project photos, edit the Project name and expiry date, and add or remove Project hotspots.

Archiving or deleting a Project remains limited to Account Owners and Global Account Managers.
