# Properties

> Create, edit, transfer, and trash properties in ObservV.

## Overview

A Property is a digital representation of a real-world location. It contains the floors, hotspots, and photos for that location.

## Key concepts

* **Top-level container.** Each floor, hotspot, and photo belongs to one property.
* **Data services required.** Your organization needs a Data services subscription to create a property. Data services covers the bandwidth and storage needed to upload and view photos.
* **Transferable.** A property can be transferred to another organization.
* **Property roles.** Access inside a property can be controlled by Property roles in addition to Global roles. See [Property roles](/access/property-roles).

## How to create a property

    Open **Properties**.

  <Step title="Click Create">
    Click **Create**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the property name">
    Enter the **Property name**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter and select the address">
    Enter the **Search address**, then select the address from the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the map pin">
    Review the map pin position and drag it if needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a description">
    Enter a **Description** if needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Click **Save**.
  </Step>

  **Prerequisite:** your organization must have Data services enabled to create a property.

## How to edit a property

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the property">
    Open **Properties** and select the property.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the editor">
    Click **Edit**, then **Edit property and floors**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Property tab">
    Open the **Property** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit name or description">
    Edit the **Property name** or **Description** as needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change the address (optional)">
    To change the address, click **Edit address**, review the pin position, drag if needed, then click **Use this address**.

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save**.

## How to transfer a property to another organization

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the property">
    Open **Properties** and select the property.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the editor">
    Click **Edit**, then **Edit property and floors**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Property tab">
    Open the **Property** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the destination">
    In the **Transfer property** section, enter the **Destination organization ID**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the transfer request">
    Click **Create transfer request**, then **Save**.
  </Step>

## How to trash a property

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the property">
    Open **Properties** and select the property.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the editor">
    Click **Edit**, then **Edit property and floors**.
  </Step>

    Open the **Property** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Trash and confirm">
    Click **Trash property** and confirm.
