Overview

Global roles define what a member can do across the organization. Each Global role contains a set of permissions. Members added to that role can perform those actions across all properties in the organization.

Role levels

Global roles follow this hierarchy: Account Owner → Account Manager → Team Manager → Content Manager → Uploader → Viewer This hierarchy controls who can manage whom. A branch is created when one Global role sponsors another Global role. A member can only manage lower roles within their own branch, and only when they have the required permissions. Each Global role level has its own default and optional permissions. For the full permission breakdown, see Permissions matrix.

Account Owner

The Account Owner role sits above all other Global roles. There is one Account Owner role per organization, and it does not have a sponsoring role. The Account Owner role can have multiple members. Account Owners can manage everything across the organization, including other members in the Account Owner role.

Branches and sponsorship

A branch shows which roles belong under another role. For example, if an Account Manager sponsors a Content Manager, Uploader, or Viewer, those roles sit inside that Account Manager’s branch. Branches prevent members from managing roles outside their area of responsibility. Even if a role is lower in the hierarchy, it cannot be managed by someone from another branch. Being in the same branch does not automatically give a member permission to manage a role. The member must also have the required role management permissions.
Why branches matter. A branch limits where role management can happen. It does not grant permission by itself.
Inviting people requires the Invite members permission. Sponsoring or managing a role does not always mean you can invite people into it.
