Account Owner

The most senior Global role. The Account Owner role sits at the top of the Global role ladder, has no sponsoring role, and can manage everything across the organization. Members in the Account Owner role can also manage other members in the Account Owner role.

Attached photo

A photo linked to a specific point on a Parent photo. Used to add detail or context to a 360 photo.

Branch

A group of roles connected through sponsorship. Branches limit where role management can happen. A member cannot manage a role in another branch, even if that role is lower in the role ladder.

Data services

The bandwidth and storage subscription needed to upload and view photos. Required to create a property.

External

In Projects, a person from another organization who is given a Project role. A person can be added to a Project as an External even if they are not part of any organization.

Floor

Divides a property into levels, wings, sections, or any meaningful area. Floor plan files can be JPEG, PNG, GIF, or PDF.

Global marker

A marker stored in the Global marker library. Can be reused across properties.

Global role

A customizable role that applies across the entire organization.

Guest

Someone with a Global role in another organization who is given a Property role in your organization. A Guest is not part of your organization.

Hotspot

A specific location on a floor where photos are stored.

Invite

Used to add new people to your organization through a Global role. Once accepted, the person becomes a member and is managed in Members.

Marker

An interactive element placed on a photo to add context, such as a note, link, or video. Markers can be Global, Property, or Single-use.

Member

Someone who has accepted an invitation and joined an organization. Once a person is a member, they are managed in Members.

No Global Role

A member with no organization-wide permissions. No Global Role can be used when someone needs Property roles without broader organization-wide access.

Opening view

For 360 photos and Tours, the position viewers see when they first open the content.

Parent photo

A photo that has at least one attached photo. A photo becomes a Parent photo as soon as the first photo is attached to it.

Project

A scoped collaboration area inside a property, with its own members, roles, structure, and optional expiry date. A Project includes selected hotspots and selected photos.

Project role

One of four fixed roles assigned to Project members: Project Manager, Team Leader, Uploader, or Viewer.

Property

A digital representation of a real-world location. A Property contains the floors, hotspots, and photos for that location.

Property marker

A marker that belongs to a single property. Property markers can also include markers added from the Global marker library.

Property role

A customizable role that applies to a single property.

QR code

A physical item placed in a room and assigned to a hotspot. When scanned, it opens that hotspot.

QR marker

A marker placed on a photo to show the physical location of the QR code, for example in a door jamb.

Recipient

An individual email address included in an Invite. Each recipient gets their own unique invite link and is tracked independently.

Redaction

Visual covering applied to a photo to hide sensitive information. Redactions can be edited or removed. The original unredacted photo can also be permanently deleted.

Sensitive photo

A photo marked as containing sensitive information. Some roles need explicit permission to view sensitive photos.

Single-use marker

A marker created directly on a photo and used once only. Single-use markers are not stored in the marker library.

Sponsoring role

A higher role that sponsors a lower role. When a role sponsors another role, the sponsored role becomes part of the sponsoring role’s branch. Sponsored roles must be lower in the role ladder than the sponsoring role.

Tour

A view-only collection of selected photos from a single property, shared with a chosen audience through the visibility setting.

Visibility

A setting on Tours and Markers that controls who can access them: Subject to permissions, All Organization members, All ObservV users, or Public.
